Fall Auditions

Auditions for the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus are being scheduled by Music Director Doreen Rao on the following dates in September 2010. 
 
September 10th, 6:00-9:00 PM
September 11th, 10:00 AM- 2:00 PM

ABOUT THE BPC:

The Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus, the principal guest chorus of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, has a 74-year commitment to choral music excellence and enhancing the cultural life of Western New York. Under music director Doreen Rao, the BPC will again launch a Buffalo Sings Concert Series for 2010-2011, in addition to performing music masterpieces with the BPO. 

The BPC regularly rehearses on Monday nights, 7:30-10:00 PM at Daemen College (September through July). There are also Saturday sectional rehearsals about every other month, depending on the repertoire demands, and orchestra rehearsals before concerts--usually two rehearsals for symphony concerts and one for pops concerts.

Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus has three membership levels:

1. Community Membership-volunteer adult singers committed to excellent music performance.
2. Professional Membership-selected core of professional singers committed to the standards of professional performance, both volunteer and paid positions.
3. Apprentice Membership--gifted college-age singers aspiring to a future in performing arts.
   
   

Audition Requirements:

1. Brief interview with the music director.
2. Bring a prepared solo (song, hymn, or aria) to perform, with a copy for the provided accompanist.
3. Be prepared to sight-read music that will be provided.
4. Bring a brief resume of musical experience, if applying for a professional singer membership position.
